3 Paisa Indian
The 3 Paisa coin, a short-lived denomination minted between 1964 and 1971, represents one of the more unusual values in post-independence Indian coinage. Usually made of aluminum, the coin was lightweight and polygonal in shape, bearing the Lion Capital of Ashoka on the obverse and the denomination and year on the reverse. Introduced to bridge small pricing gaps in the marketplace, its impractical denomination led to a quick discontinuation. Today, it is a collector's curiosity—an oddity from the early years of India’s decimal currency system that reflects experimentation in coinage design and monetary strategy.
